Director's Statement

Violeta dives into gestational grief. A poetic protest against the violence that thousands of women face with the silencing of our pain. Born from the desire to offer companionship, it is feminine, affective, and at times visceral. An act of transformation.
The film Violeta draws from a personal experience but resonates with countless griefs, speaking to thousands of women. Helena, the protagonist, embodies a chorus of voices, allowing the pain of these women to be heard, felt, and acknowledged — and perhaps, through this, to discover pathways toward transformation
In memory of Violeta.
In the remote countryside of southern Brazil, far from the major cultural centers, Violeta emerges as a poetic exploration of grief and resilience. Created by a small team of independent artists, this short film deliberately moves away from the rational structures and production systems of the film industry to embrace a more intuitive and feminine creative process, inspired by Bi Naluna’s artistic vision. With its evocative symbolism, Violeta challenges the silence surrounding gestational grief, offering a space where unspoken pain is both acknowledged and transformed. Violeta, more than just a film, is a sensitive experience.
